Why DVDProfiler2XBMC?
XBMC can already search for movie information and cover art for movies with IMDB. However, I wanted to browse my own dvd collection by looking at the actual DVD covers instead of the IMDB image.
How does DVDProfiler2XBMC work?
Before you begin, you must have DVD Profiler software installed along with a dvd collection built up in DVD Profiler. DVD Profiler will search for your specific DVD and grab DVD artwork and movie information.
You will also need to have the Microsoft .NET 1.1 Framework installed in order to run DVDProfiler2XBMC.
- 1. Open up DVD Profiler
- 2. Go to File>Export Profile Database, and select to output in XML format to create an XML file of your collection.
- 3. Now open up the DVDProfiler2XBMC application and browse to your DVD Profiler directory (default location is "C:\Program Files\InterVocative Software\DVD Profiler"). This directory is used to grab your DVD covers.
- 4. Select the exported XML file created in Step 2.
- 5. Select the output directory to where the dvd iso/video and thumbnails will be created in.
- 6. Select the output format. You can choose to create a dvd iso file (iso, img), video file (mpg, vob, wmv, avi), or a directory for each movie. You can choose to overwrite files should you be running this more than once over the same directory. I would recommend to always run the program into a new directory. Since dvds get re-released all the time, some people like myself end up having multiple dvd editions of the same movie. You can choose to have your movie show up only once or have all the different versions created by checking/unchecking the "Duplicates" checkbox.
- 7. Choose whether to create a DVD thumbnail image.
- 8. Press Start and your collection should be created within a few seconds.
Now open this directory within XBMC and you will be able to browse your DVD collection. Run the IMDB scan within XBMC and you will be able to view the movie information.
